BIG Baby

Today’s Story – Big Baby!

Big birth announcement: couple welcomes a 16-pound baby boy
Big Baby
This bundle of joy must be bringing an extra helping of happiness: a couple in Texas are the proud parents of 16-pound, 1-ounce, 2-foot-long JaMichael Brown.

At 9:05 Friday morning, Janet Johnson and Michael Brown welcomed their son at Longview's Good Shepherd Medical Center. JaMichael, who was quickly nicknamed "the Moose," is the largest child ever born in the hospital—and possibly the state.

So exactly how big is a 16-pound baby? Let's put it this way: The average newborn is about seven-and-a-half pounds. The Brown baby's weight is just about equivalent to that of a six-month-old.

God’s Story: 1 Peter 2:1-3
1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

What does today’s God’s Story teach us about babies?

Babies are meant to grow and not stay as infants.  It’s the same way in our spiritual lives.  We should crave milk, spiritual milk – God’s Word – so that we can grow in Him.

How can we connect today’s God’s Story to our lives?
Did you make a resolution or set a goal at the beginning of the year to spend more time in the Word?  How are you doing on that?

Has it been hard?  Have you found it easy to forget or just not get around to reading the Bible and praying?  Ask the Lord to give you a desire to read the Word and spend time with Him.  It’s part of our armor each day.

How can we connect today’s story, God’s Story scripture, and our story to others?
Share the story of this big baby with your friends.  Ask them how much they weighed when they were born.
Let your friends know that your desire is to grow in the Lord.  Have them pray for you so that you have accountability partners.
Thank the Lord that you’re not where you used to be.  Seek to become closer to Him each day.
Let your relationship with Jesus become a natural part of your life so others can see Him in you.
Keep growing!  You don’t want to stay a spiritual baby for the rest of your life!
