The Royal Wedding

Prince William and Kate Middleton Rehearse Wedding Final Time

A smiling Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived at Westminster Abbey on Wednesday night to run through their wedding ceremony. Next time, it'll be for real.  Although there had been an earlier rehearsal for the military, using a Middleton lookalike, this was a rehearsal for the bride and groom.

William, 28, wore a charcoal grey suit and Middleton, 29, wore a black dress as they arrived in a chauffer-driven Range Rover at sunset. Best man Prince Harry, 26, and the maid of honor, Kate's sister Pippa Middleton, 27, arrived in a silver van. They were flanked by two motorcycle police officers.  It was their last rehearsal before Friday's wedding, according to multiple news reports.

God’s Story:
Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.
Revelation 19:7

What does today’s Scripture Story teach us about the Royal Wedding?
One day our Heavenly Father will send His Son, the Groom, back to get His bride.  All those who love the Lord and serve Him will be taken to the royal wedding in heaven.  Jesus has already asked us to live with Him forever, but we must be prepared to attend.

How can we connect today’s God’s Story scripture to our lives?
All over the world, thousands upon thousands are preparing for the Royal Wedding of William and Kate.   After years of speculation, months of detailed information such as the guest list and who is designing the gown, the time has finally drawn near.  In less than 24 hours millions are estimated to watch as Will and Kate get married.

Were you expecting an invitation to witness the vows?  Sorry you didn’t get one, but you can watch it from the comfort of your home.  You don’t even have need a vested interest in the couple to participate in their celebration.  Just turn on you TV or watch it on the web.

In order to attend the Wedding Celebration of the Lamb (Jesus Christ) however, we must know Him personally.  There won’t be any wedding crashers at the gates of Heaven when Jesus comes to claim His Bride.

Are you ready?  Does He know your name?  Is it written down on the guest list in the Lamb’s book of Life?

How can we connect today’s story, God’s Story scripture, and our story to others?
Are you planning on getting up early to watch the wedding?  Use it as a conversation piece with your friends to let them know you’re getting ready for a wedding, too.

Discuss how much is involved in planning and preparing for a wedding.  If you’re a guy, think about how much it costs, starting with the engagement ring.

Consider how much it cost Jesus to ‘buy’ our love.  He gave His life on Calvary.  The perfect Lamb was slain for our sins.  Tie in Holy Week and Easter. Let them know there will be the real “Royal Wedding” the world has even seen when Jesus comes back.

And of course, pray.  The second coming of Jesus is difficult to explain, but you can be an encouragement to someone who is a new Christian.  Ask God to help you use every day happenings to relay His love to them.

Step out in faith today.  Share about the wedding.  Invite them to be your guest at the next Royal Wedding.
