The first "Transformers" grabbed $155.4 million in its first seven days. By the end of this weekend, its sequel could hit a number in that same neighborhood -- but in just five days.

Romans 12:1,2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

What does God say about being Transformed?

Like the Deceptacons in the movie Transformers, there are many things in this world that can deceive us and take our eyes off the prize of following Christ. Many things in this world offer false promises and don't always appear what they claim to be.

Most of the commercials today say that we are missing something and if we only purchase their product our lives will be transformed - toothpaste that will make us attractive or a deodorant that will attract the opposite sex like a magnet.

While most of these ads focus on the perfection of the physical world around us God cares more about our minds. He wants our minds to be transformed. If our minds are renewed daily in Christ then we can come much closer to God's will for us and surely make better choices.

  • Take a minute to think about what goes in your mind on a daily basis. Are you renewing your mind with God's Word or are you content to be conformed to the world's ideas?
  • List 2 or 3 patterns or ideas about life that you have embraced that are more worldy ideas and not God's. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and pray for his renewal. It is through the Holy Spirit that we are reminded about the things of God and renewed.
  • Talk to at least one friend about wordly assumptions, ideas or phrases (for example: there are many ways to God, just be yourself, life is good, money is everything etc...), what they mean and do they believe it.
  • Use this topic naturally in your conversation and share how God has transformed your ideas about how the world works and how he has changed your perspective.
